What's this all about?
Nominet have released a new domain suffix - .uk which runs alongside the existing domains .co.uk , .org.uk etc
They've reserved the .uk versions of each domain for anyone who already has the .co.uk version
So for instance, if you have xyzabc.co.uk they should have reserved xyzabc.uk for you
You don't have to register the .uk version, they've just reserved it for you in case you do want it
If you do want the .UK version too, to register it you'll need to log in to our domains control panel for your domain , once logged in you'll see the option for checking UK rights, and the instructions for registering it
Either way your existing domain is completely unaffected top
How can I check if I have a reserved domain?
If you have an existing .co.uk or .org.uk and want to see if the .UK version has been reserved for you, you'll need to log in to our domains control panel for your domain , once logged in you'll see the option for checking UK rights, and the instructions for registering it top
What happens if I don’t register the corresponding shorter .uk domain?
When your rights elapse on 25th June, the ‘reserved’ domain will be available for registration by someone else.
Your existing domain is unaffected and will continue as usual. Remember to continue to renew your registration each year. top
What happens to my existing domain name?
Your existing domain is unaffected and will continue as usual, whether you or not you decide to register the .UK version top
